Kevin’s diverse background includes earning a Bachelor in Mathematics and a minor in Economics from State University of New York at Albany, as well as an M.B.A. at Clarkson University. He has been a member of the U.S. military in Naval Intelligence overseas, held a career as an economist, worked 80-hour weeks on pipelines in North Dakota, and is also a certified nursing assistant. He founded Celtic Guard Financial Planning as a way to directly use his skills to help people discover and achieve their financial goals.

“I left the economics field because I didn’t want to be on the corporate side anymore,” says Kevin. “I want to help people, that’s why I founded Celtic Guard. This isn’t my sole source of making a living, this is my passion.”

Kevin is licensed in both Life and Health for the state of Ohio. He is one of the few advisors who helps clients with their health exchanges during open enrollment periods and advises them on obtaining health insurance policies and supplemental policies like accident insurance and specific disease insurance.

“I am not a salesman, and never will be—it’s just not in my nature,” says Kevin. “My approach is to be an educator first and an advisor second, and then to guide people through whatever financial stage they’re currently facing, whether that’s accumulation, preservation, or the appropriate blend of both for their circumstances. I’m a partner for them.”

The business model at Celtic Guard Financial Planning is designed around the needs of clients. Appointment and business hours suit clients’ schedules and are always relaxed and informal in nature.

“If it’s a Sunday night and an idea pops into the heads of my clients, I’m not going to charge them, and I’m going to do my best to help them. They can call me every day if they want. If they’re looking for the best birthday cake for their child, I might even be able to find that out!” jokes Kevin. “My friends have called me annoyingly considerate, but I have always believed in putting others first.”

There is never any rush in appointments or meetings at Celtic Guard Financial Planning, and Kevin wants potential clients to interview him, as well, so they can determine if he is a good fit for their needs. He makes house calls for clients so they don’t have to travel to see him, and the meetings always proceed at the pace and convenience of the client.

“I don’t set limits on my time with clients,” says Kevin. “I was in the military for years and worked on pipelines, so I’m very familiar with working outside normal business hours.”

Away from the office, Kevin is a huge New York Rangers fan, plays softball, mountain bikes, and loves going to outdoor music festivals, both rock and classical. He enjoys strength training, living and staying healthy and, to that end, is currently getting certified in respiratory therapy.
